Drama ATAR is exciting and ‘hands on’. It is the variety of tasks that makes the course so engaging. Students will achieve outcomes through the key activities of creation, performance and reflection.

The course focuses on aesthetic understanding and drama in practice as you integrate your knowledge and skills. Students will use the elements and conventions of drama to develop and present ideas and will engage in drama processes such as improvisation, play building, text interpretation, playwriting and dramaturgy, which allows for the creation of original drama and interpretation of a range of texts written or devised by others. Work in this course includes production and design aspects involving sets, costumes, makeup, props, promotional materials, and sound and lighting. The course encourages problem solving, creative thinking, risk taking and analytical thinking and also helps with building confidence and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Drama General

No prerequisites

This course is diverse, exciting and ‘hands on’. It is the variety of tasks that makes the course so engaging. The course allows you to refine or develop your acting skills, with a focus on dramatic storytelling and performing as a group or as individuals. You will explore texts and scripts through performance and written work.

You will develop an understanding of designing for sets, costumes, make-up, props, promotional material, lighting, sound and technology, including multimedia. The course encourages problem solving, creative thinking, risk taking and analytical thinking and also helps with building confidence and communication skills, both written and verbal. The key activities in the course are creation, performance and reflection. The course is both engaging and rewarding and suited to students who would like to explore the Arts through production or performance.
