This course engages students in the development of skills, knowledge, understandings and appreciation within art making and interpretation tasks. Students will explore traditional, modern and contemporary art processes in the areas of painting, drawing or printmaking and have opportunities to express their imagination, shape ideas and develop personal imagery through the creation and presentation of resolved artworks.

Within contemporary society, there is increasing need to perceive, understand, interpret and evaluate visual information. This course enables students to develop visual literacy, communication skills and confidence in their creative abilities. Students will be engaged in a process that helps them to develop motivation, discipline and resilience, all of which are essential life skills.

The Visual Arts ATAR course aims to prepare students for creative thinking and problem solving in future work and life.

Visual Arts General

No prerequisites

In the Visual Arts General course students will develop skills, knowledge, understanding and appreciation within art making and interpretation tasks. They will explore traditional, modern and contemporary art processes within sculpture, painting, drawing or printmaking. Students will express their imagination, shape ideas and develop personal imagery through the creation and presentation of resolved artworks. The course encourages innovative art practices and places value on individuality and enterpriseStudents will analyse and evaluate artworks to develop an appreciation of the role of art in the community, culture and daily life. Within contemporary society, there is an increasing need to perceive, understand, interpret and evaluate visual information. The Visual Arts General course enables the development of visual literacy, communication skills and confidence in creative abilities.
